capacity to speak by a prophetic miracle.
On f. 1a, the author is given as Ibn al-Jawzī, but the other parts of his name given in the MS do not run in accordance with Jamāl al-Dīn Abū al-Faraj ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī Ibn al-Jauzī. They are as follows: ʿAlā' al-Dīn ʿAlī ibn Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad al-Miṣrī al-Shāfiʿī al-Athūbī.
The following copies on this work are ascribed to ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī Ibn al-Jauzī: Berlin (Ahlwardt) No. 8761, Gotha (Pertsch) Nos. 624-625.
Other manuscripts name as authors:

London, British Museum, Suppl. (Rieu) No. 1143: Shihāb al-Dīn Aḥmad ibn Ṭughar Beg (flourished in 665/1266-1267)
Paris (de Slane) No. 3557-3558: ʿAlī al-Marāghī al-Qabbānī (lived still in 1001/1592-1593).
The text of the introduction of the MS which is ascribed to Ibn al-Jawzī diffesr, though, from the text found in the manuscripts ascribed to Ibn Ṭughrīl respectively Ibn Ṭughar Beg.
