How the first part of the present collection of traditions is associated with the
tenth part of a collection in Berlin (Ahlwardt no. 1557) of the same name and the
collections mentioned in Ḥājjī Khalīfah (IV/481, nos. 9297, 9298) still has to be
clarified. The Berlin MS names Abū al-Qāsim ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz
ibn al-Marzubān al-Baghawī (d. 317/929; Kaḥḥālah VI/126; Ziriklī IV/119) as author.
Moreover, Ziriklī indicates the first named transmitter of the collection in the Leipzig
MS, Abū al-Ḥusayn Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Ḥusayn al-Daqqāq Ibn Aḫī Mīmī (d.
390/1000; Kaḥḥālah X/208; Ziriklī VI/226), as author of a multi-volume collection
of traditions with an identical title. According to Kaḥḥālah, al-Daqqāq also transmitted
traditions of Abū al-Qāsim al-Baghawī, the author of the Berlin MS. ff. 45b, 46a, 61b-62a: various audition notes
