Anthology of poetic pieces by various authors. According to Ḥājjī Khalīfah, this anthology
is supposed to have consisted of more than 50 vol.; according to Kaḥḥālah and Ziriklī
even more than 70 vol. The present MS could be a part of the first vol. f. 1a: Another hand wrongly identifies the MS as the Tadhkirah by Ṣalāḥ al-Dīn Abū al-Ṣafā'
Khalīl ibn Aybak ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Albakī al-Ṣafadī al-Shāfiʿī (d. 764/1363; EI2 VIII/759-760;
GAL II/31-33 S II/27-29; Ḥājjī Khalīfah II/401, no. 1131; Ziriklī II/315-316). This
claim is asserted to be incorrect in yet another hand. f. 1b: The title of the work and an abbreviated name of the author in the copyist's handwriting
with a reference that this MS was copied using the autograph as a master. f. 153b: A third handwriting claims that the MS originates from the author's pen. The 15th
of Shawwāl 913/17th of February 1508 is named as the date of completion, therefore,
the work would have been produced after the death of al-Shihāb al-Ḥijāzī. It could
have been a scribal error, and the 15th of Shawwāl 813/10 could have been the intended
date. An examination of the watermarks in the paper revealed that it is not possible that
the manuscript was finished in the year 813/1411. Even the date 913/1508 is not in
question, as the anchor motif in single outline in a circle with trefoil above and
with a countermark cannot be found until the middle of the 16th (see CM Briquet, Les
Dictionnaires Filigree historique des Marques du Papier Leipzig, 1923, T. I, p. 41;
Vladimir Anchor Watermarks Amsterdam 1973, p. 51). Thus, the MS is probably a copy
made using the autograph as a master. The information in the colophon would have been
taken from the master, although the copyist or any other hand could have made a mistake
in notating the date.
